The second half of 2008 looks set to be an exciting one for the UK fireplace industry. Merlin Fireplaces have recently entered the Wood Burning Stove market and we are introducing the BRONPI Range of Wood Burners for supply to good fireplace & stove retailers around the U.K.

We have for some time been asked by retailers whether we can supply wood burning stoves. That trend is gathering pace with the current increases in electricity & gas prices. The trend is also reinforced by the fact that wood burning stoves (not multifuel) are ecologically friendly in that they burn a renewable energy source, are very efficient and emit only small amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. The ready availability these days of kiln dried logs suitable for immediate burning has also accelerated the trend.

With new housing (even allowing for the current depressed state of the market) we have found that house builders have been increasingly directed towards wood burning appliances (again, not multi-fuel) as a way of achieving target SAP (Standard Assessment Procedures) to comply with Part L1 of the Building Regulations (Conservation of Fuel & Power).

Taking all this into account, therefore, we have formed an exclusive partnership with Bronpi Calefaccion SL of Spain to market their range of wood burning stoves & inserts in the U.K.
